Vaslav Nijinsky as Petrushka

Ref: 1237

Signed l.c.: Glynn Boyd Harte

Watercolour over pencil, 33 by 23 cm

Boyd Harte based this design on a well-known photograph of Nijinsky as Petrushka in the original Ballet Russes production of Stravinsky's ballet of the same name from 1911. The present work was used for the cover of a CBS masterworks LP issued to coincide with a film on the life of Nijinsky, directed by Herbert Ross in 1980.
