Hare was a London based painter who lived in Chelsea before settling in Holland Park and Notting Hill. Her evocative landscapes and still lifes reflect the influence of the Camden Town Group (under whom she may have studied). She exhibited extensivley at the Royal Academy, the Society of Woman Artists and in Ireland at the Royal Hibernian Academy. She had Irish roots and appears to have been the niece of the well-known historical genre painter St George Hare who painted her as a child.
